Focused on play. building resilience and supporting mental health, this webinar aims to help school age childcare providers support children’s mental and emotional health and is based on the Playwork Principles.  

Laura Perry  Play Participation Officer, PlayBoard

Laura  is a Play Participation Officer within PlayBoard NI. She has a BA (Hons) Degree in Playwork which she received from Leeds Metropolitan University. Since completing her degree Laura has since gained experience as a playworker for a local Afterschool Club, a Family Support Worker within Sure Start and a Children and Young Peoples Support Worker within Womens Aid. Laura’s key areas of interest are Play Therapy and how play can promote children’s emotional intelligence.

Bernadette McCann Play Participation Officer, PlayBoard

Prior to joining the team at PlayBoard in May 2020, Bernadette was a Primary School teacher and has experience of teaching children from Nursery to Primary 7.  With her background in farming, degree in Geography and PGCE specialising in Science, she is passionate about outdoor learning and play. Having a sister with a disability and experience of working within disability services, she is an advocate for inclusion and firmly believes that in play all children are equal. Recently, she has assisted PlayBoard to develop a suite of training based on the importance of play in supporting children’s mental health.
