National Childhood Network announces Michelle Hart as new CEO

Michelle Hart Síolta/Aistear Development Manager, Michelle Hart, takes up her new post this week with the National Childhood Network, succeeding Denise Mc Cormilla, as Chief Executive Officer following her retirement.

 Michelle joined the organisation as Quality Implementation Officer in 2002, having worked as an Early Years Specialist in Northern Ireland, supporting preschool services to build and enhance children’s learning and development in line with the Northern Ireland curriculum for the early years sector.

Mary Walker Callaghan, newly elected Chairperson of the board of management, said “On behalf of the National Childhood Network, I would like to congratulate Michelle on her appointment as our new Chief Executive Officer. In her work with NCN, formerly the Border Counties Childcare Network, Michelle has supported countless services across the Border Counties and Meath in working to meet the requirements of Síolta and Aistear. A dedicated advocate for the promotion of children’s rights in all childhood services, Michelle is also a keen advocate for service providers and staff committed to the delivery of quality services”

 Working with the HSE to develop the Healthy Ireland Smart Start (HISS) programmes for Early Learning and Care services, Michelle has played a lead role in developing the Nurturing Emotional Wellbeing element of both the Birth – 3 years and Preschool Programmes. Born in Co Tyrone, Michelle has also played a crucial role in supporting the implementation of NCN’S various cross border projects.
