 Children and the Arts

 Welcome

Welcome to the website of the National Childhood Network (NCN). The website is designed to provide a broad range of information for those who work in a variety of roles within the Early Childhood and School Age Childcare sector. NCN exists to support the achievement of national quality standards in all areas of service delivery, including areas covering governance, management and holistic play based learning that enhances children’s health, well-being, learning, and development.

For practitioners working with children under 6 years of age, we are guided by the Síolta >> and Aistear >> Frameworks. For practitioners working with school going children, we are guided by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and international best practice, while pursuing the development of a national quality framework for school age childcare.
